The use of the atomic bomb on Japan was not necessary. First, the majoritiy of the victims were civilians. About 45,000 people on the first day of the bombing and 19,000 thousand after that do to radiation and cancer. In addition, the United States could have dropped the atomic bomb on a remote island and shown what damage it can cause and see if they would surrender or not.
